What is CBN? (Cannabinol)

CBN is generated as a breakdown product of THC once the Cannabis sativa (cannabis) plant is harvested. When THC is subjected to high heat and light (aka oxidation), it produces a distinct metabolite called CBN. CBN, unlike THC, does not produce psychoactive effects. CBN was the first phytocannabinoid identified from Indian hemp in 1896, decades before CBD was discovered. CBN has received far less attention than CBD, but we will undoubtedly learn more about its potential advantages as more research is conducted.
